Give it time

With AI today anyone can build an app in a day, write an essay in a matter of minutes, make an illustration or painting within seconds. The time constraint almost fully evaporated.

But we are completely missing the point where our brain can really lay back into retrospective mode, can take a step away and think, reflect on the things going on. Pause a bit and take a breath.

With all creation getting super fast, people are getting intoxicated and just pushing output. But most forget to take a break. It was an important part of the “oldschool” way of doing things and should be still important now.

The point is to be aware of what you are doing. Trust the process. Enjoy the ride. Be yourself.

It doesn’t matter how you do it. Hustlers and copycats always existed and always leeched on real, knowledgeable professionals and artists. This did not change with AI. Just the entry ticket got cheaper and it’s easier to get a taste from the “booze”. But from that point it’s up to you what to do with the newly available power.

Use it wisely, take your time.

Make decisions. Change your mind. Do a complete 180° turn or just scrap the whole thing because it doesn’t spark joy anymore.

With AI we just pile up “done” tasks and we don’t care if it was actually what we wanted, or anyone wanted as a matter of fact.

We just ship, scale, deliver. And it became so “cheap” especially in time it doesn’t carry the same weight as before. It becomes weightless and valueless.

And yes, it happened few times in our lifetime already; exactly how digital devices replaced analog ones, losing meaning and value from the process. We don’t think before a photo, we don’t frame, we don’t judge, we just shoot 200 images because it’s “free” and we are not limited anymore by the 24–32 frames on a roll of film. 30 years ago people spent more time on composition - and maybe never pushed the button - than we spend today on end-to-end photography.

So what’s my point?

Keep creating. Just give it time.

Let it rest. Let it mature.

Let it fail. Let it be reborn.

Both your mind and your product.

Sidenote:

I might not be the most popular with my opinion, but I’m personally somewhere between the two parties on this topic.

Yes, yes. Incoming slop tsunami! AI is stealing. And all the battle cry we already know from the internet. But hear me out.

Not gonna lie; I find it somewhat disgusting how some companies are making humongous profit from open knowledge, technically selling you the very same thing that someone else contributed to the world, often free of charge. It’s hard to argue. Period.

You can make slop fair and square, you can push out honest people from the craft and live with this. It’s on you and your conscience.

But equally hard to deny the fact how AI assisted tooling can make people more efficient and less dependent on what they are doing. How it can help services become more accessible, how it can help millions of people.

It’s really a two edged blade.

It’s up to you. Always been.
